3/10/2020 DisapprovedThe version of NFPA 99 used in the design has not been provided on the medical gas plans (ie, P-102)
DisapprovedThe category of dental system has not been provided on the medical gas plans (ie, P-102). Comment response indicated "Category 2 Medical gas system"; however, this is incorrect as it shall be a Category 2 DENTAL system, which pulls requirements from Chapter 15 rather than the medical gas system per Chapter 4. Please verify, correct, AND put this Category of DENTAL system ON THE PLANS.
DisapprovedLetter from dentist claifying level of sedation not attached to plans. This SHALL be attached to the plans before plans can be approved.
DisapprovedComment response indicates that the anestitizing spaces and critical care spaces will be part of "delayed submittal by installer". It appears this references a "deferred" submittal; however, a deferred submittal is not allowed for medical gas plans. Medical gas plans shall be submitted as part of construction plans.

DisapprovedAs this Oxygen and vacuum system fall under the scope of NFPA 99, the following information is required ON THE MEDICAL GAS PLANS: 1. Version of NFPA 99 used for design (note that CSFD has adopted the 2018 version of NFPA 99, NO OTHER VERSIONS ACCEPTED). 2. Category of DENTAL gas system (Category 1, 2, or 3) as defined in NFPA 99 Chapter 15. 3. Maximum level of sedation to be performed in the facility - this must be provided on letterhead of the doctor or the facility's healthcare governing body. This must use terminology and definitions per 3.3.66 and 3.3.136 of 2018 NFPA 99. 4. Mark any anesthetizing spaces or critical care spaced on the medical gas plans. 5. Please verify piping materials for vacuum and oxygen piping. Piping shall comply with the applicable sections in 15.1, 15.2, and 15.3 of NFPA 99 as applicable (based on Category of system). 6. Additionally, NFPA 99 usually requires each manifold header to have at least 2 gas cylinders on each header, which would require a total of 4 cylinders not 2. Please read the requirements found in NFPA 99 and verify you are using the correct number of cylinders and update the HMIS as necessary. 7. Provide location of Dental gas alarm panel on medical gas plans. It shall be in a continuously (during business hours) monitored location.

Approved mechanical ventilation shall comply with the International Mechanical Code and be provided at a minimum rate of 1 cubic foot per minute per square foot [0.00508 m3/(s u m 2)] of the area of the room. EXCEPTION: When the building is not provided with a fire sprinkler system, and the room does not exceed 24 square feet; a single ordinary temperature, quick response sprinkler head from the domestic water supply after the building#s backflow preventer is allowed. The feed to the sprinkler shall have a quarter turn isolation valve to facilitate changing the sprinkler. This valve must be chained and locked in the open position and be labeled indicating the valve function. For this sprinkler head configuration, no design area calculations or sprinkler reviews are required. A minimum temperature of 40?F must be maintained in this room and anywhere the water supply piping is run. (2015 IFC ?5306.2.2)
FYI2015 IFC - ONE-HOUR EXTERIOR ROOMS.
