5/21/2020 DisapprovedSEPARATE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL PERMITS REQUIRED: The following Processes/Operations require separate permits through the Division of the Fire Marshal, 375 Printers Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO 80910: UF - Underground fuel tank and vehicle dispensing Please provide a letter stating that the underground fuel tank and vehicle dispensing permit application will be submitted in a separate application to the Division of the Fire Marshal in accordance with the below procedures and processes. DisapprovedCARBON DIOXIDE AND INERT GAS SYSTEMS - DETECTION Logico2 mk10 system proposed. However, please indicate the following on the CO2 sensor plan: 1. Provide a detection schedule which specifically shows at what levels the system will activate, and what the response of the system will be at those levels (ie, all horn/strobes activate, autoshutoff valve activation, ventilation activation, etc). Note that CSFD CO2 system require ARE NOT THE SAME as other jurisdictions, please read the requirements and design the system appropriately. 2. Is an autoshutoff provided, if not, ventilation for each point of use is required, provide ventilation calculations that demonstrate the correct airflow at each point of use 3. Provide clear indication if the foundation drink station is a point of use or not. A warning lamp is provided there, but no reference to a detector is provided. 4. What amount of N2 is being stored (this informaiton was not indicated on HMIS even though N2 is a hazardous material per fire code definitions). If more than 100 lbs is connected to a gas system, then an Oxygen monitoring system will also be required in addition to the CO2 detection system. 5. If this level of detail will only be provided by the CO2 contractor, a deferred submittal may be requested, contact Fire Protection Engineer Stefan Manning at stefan.manning@coloradosprings.gov for more information.
3/31/2020 DisapprovedHAZARDOUS MATERIAL INVENTORY STATEMENT: All Processes/Operations, Materials/Chemicals indicated on the Hazardous Materials Triage form must be provided on a Hazardous Materials Inventory Statement (HMIS). An HMIS WAS NOT provided with the submittal. The HMIS shall include the following information: 1. Product name. 2. Component. 3. Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) number. 4. Location where stored or used. 5. Container size. 6. Hazard classification. 7. Amount in storage. 8. Amount in use-closed systems. 9. Amount in use-open systems. HMIS required but NOT provided. Please provide an HMIS. If more than 100 lbs of CO2 are planned to be used in a beverage dispensing system, the requirements of Section 5307 shall be required to be complied with at this time; however, if the CO2 contractor is not selected yet, the CO2 system may be a deferred submittal; please contact Stefan Manning at stefan.manning@coloradosprings.gov for details.
