iCAST’s ResourceSmart makes business and multi-family retrofits easy for owners

City Green Bag Lunch-n-Learn Thursday, March 21

The City’s next Green Bag Lunch-n-Learn on Thursday, March 21 features non-profit iCAST’s ResourceSmart program that helps businesses and multi-family housing owners make energy upgrades both easy and affordable. As the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Technical Assistance provider for affordable housing properties, they can also advise owners, as to whether their property improvements qualify for financial assistance.

The Lunch-n-Learn runs over the noon lunch hour, from 12:11 to 12:49 p.m., at the City Administration Building, 30 S. Nevada, in Room 701, on the 7th floor. (Note different location) Attendees are encouraged to bring and enjoy their lunches during the presentation. Those who come have the opportunity to win a door prize tote bag made from reused City banners.

The ResourceSmart program is geared to address not only energy efficiency but also health and safety issues, indoor air quality (such as radon or CO) concerns, comfort, and water conservation. While each project is tailored toward a specific property owner’s needs, ResourceSmart manages every step for the owner including the assessment, project financing options (low interest, long-term loans are available), construction management (using local contractors), rebate submittals, and even behavioral change measures for occupants.

Each month, the City sponsors a lunch-n-learn topic on an environmental issue. Questions? Contact Nick Kittle at 719-385-6609 or nkittle@springsgov.com.
