"Many people have a special interest or program they want to support. This gives citizens the ability to support their favorite programs with easy online access," says Sue Skiffington-Blumberg, Public Communications Manager. "Many of the same programs may be facing service reductions or cuts again in 2011. The momentum from the community has been impressive. Online volunteering and donations was a natural next step."
The web pages can be found by clicking on the Give Where You Live icon on the homepage of SpringsGov.com. Citizens can make an on-line donation to the category of their choice, or easily find information on volunteering to adopt a park, waterway or streetlight. (Note: If a program that receives donations is eliminated or enough money is not raised to implement a program, the City will direct the money to a similar program. Donations will not be refunded.)
The site is also a launching pad for the City to expand its asset marketing program and corporate and green partnerships. The City is interested in developing partnerships that will benefit both the community and local businesses.
