  • ADA-compliant sidewalks and handicap ramps
  • Traffic signal improvements

Upcoming Traffic Impacts

Wednesday, April 7 ? Variable lane closures in both directions on Fillmore Street will take place for traffic signal mast arm installation between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight. The Colorado Springs Police Department will be on site to help aid in traffic flow during the lane closures.

Thursday, April 8 to Friday, April 9 ? El Paso Street north of Fillmore Street will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, for water line lowering. A detour will be in place. The closure will last overnight with expected re-opening at 5 a.m. on Friday, April 9.

Friday, April 9 through Monday, April 12 ? El Paso Street north of Fillmore Street will be closed for storm drain work beginning Friday, April 9, at 8 p.m. through Monday, April 12 at 5 a.m. A detour will be in place and accesses to all businesses will remain open.

Drivers should expect some delays to complete this work and use alternate routes when possible.  For the safety and expediency of construction and the safety of the traveling public, the City of Colorado Springs ask motorists to pay close attention to posted speed limits and signs through the project area. All business access will be maintained during construction. All construction activities are weather and resource dependent.

Media should contact the project manager, Clyde Pikkaraine, at 385-5464. The public can contact Blue Ridge Construction with questions about construction impacts at 578-5225, ext. 10.

The project is jointly funded by using Federal Hazard Elimination and Safety (HES) funds and Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority funds. The project will reconstruct the intersection to improve traffic operations and safety.
