CSFD Announces New Deputy Chief; Promotes 6 Others

Colorado Springs, CO – Colorado Springs Fire Chief Chris Riley announced the promotion of six members of the Fire Department today, including a new Deputy Chief.  Chief Riley named Ted Collas as Deputy Chief of Support Services. 

Chief Collas has been employed by the Colorado Springs Fire Department since 1985.   He has worked in the department’s Operations Division, Training Division and Medical Division. As Deputy Chief of Support Services, Chief Collas will oversee internal and external services that ensure the readiness of the fire department to create a safe community, including the Training Division, Apparatus and Facilities, Medical Division and Human Resources.

“Chief Collas is a respected leader in the Colorado Springs Fire Department,” says Chief Riley.  “His years of service and expertise are true assets and will help move the Fire Department forward.” 

Six others are also being promoted:

  • Gary Reading – Battalion Chief
  • Barry Madison – Captain
  • Michael Offutt – Captain
  • Mike Galvin – Lieutenant
  • Grant Tinker – Lieutenant
  • Ryan Warner – Lieutenant 

“I am pleased with the level of experience, education, and skills these individuals will bring into their new positions,” stated Riley.
