Structure Fire at 1113 East Moreno Avenue

On October 2, 2013 at 1:53 p.m., Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 1113 E. Moreno Avenue. The first CSFD engine arrived within two minutes to see heavy smoke coming from the upper level of the home. The main body of the fire was located in a bedroom on the 2nd floor and was quickly extinguished.
CSFD responded to this call with two fire engines, two fire trucks, the hazmat unit, the heavy rescue unit and four support apparatus. There were 31 firefighters on-scene working to put out the fire and provide medical care to the residents.
No injuries were reported. The family of four has been displaced from the home. Fire investigators have ruled this an accidental fire caused by a lamp that fell onto combustible materials.
