Death Investigation - University Drive

Tuesday, July 9, 2013, 8:30 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

This afternoon at 5:15 pm, officers responded to 231 University Drive following a report of a shooting that was called into our Communications Center.

Officers arrived on the scene and located a male victim who had suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.  Sadly, the victim died from the injuries he sustained.  The name of the victim will not be released pending notification of family members.

The CSPD Violent Crimes Unit responded and is in the early stages of investigating this incident. 

The Police Department believes that this is an isolated incident and that there is no continuing danger to the community.

Should the Coroner’s Office determine that this is a homicide, it would mark the 19th of the year.
