Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Fire Department is excited to be working with Mitchell High School through the Spirit of the Springs Adopt-A-School program. CSFD will visit Mitchell seniors on Wednesday  to teach some basic safety life skills to the students who are preparing  to leave home for work or college.

CSFD Firefighters, Fire & Life Safety Educators and Administrators will be handing out “Safety Grad Bags” to all MHS 2013 graduates and talking with students about their personal safety.  Mayor Bach’s wife Suzi, a Mitchell High Graduate, will help hand out the bags. The bags will have a water bottle, first aid kit, cooking hot pad, tool kit, tape measure with flashlight, smoke alarm and keychain.  Information on healthy eating, basic first aid, CPR, safe cooking, home safety, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detection and campus safety will also be included in the bags.

The safety grad bags will be distributed on Wednesday, May 15th from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mitchell High School Auditorium.
