Early this morning, at approximately 4:30, officers responded to Mesa Road and W. Cache la Poudre Street to investigate a report of a sexual assault in-progress.

The initial investigation revealed that the adult female victim was walking in the area when she was approached by an unknown male suspect who asked her for a cigarette lighter. While in the process of giving him a lighter, the suspect forcibly grabbed the victim and forced her to the ground.

The suspect then produced a knife and began to assault the victim.  She was able to force the suspect off of her at which time he fled the area on foot, in an unknown direction. The victim flagged down Colorado College security personnel who in turn, called our department to report the incident.

During the altercation the victim sustained a small cut or scrape to her right hand and received medical attention.

The suspect is described as a white male, early 20’s, 5’06” – 5’07”, 160 – 170 pounds with a medium build and a pierced lip. He was wearing a black beanie cap and a dark colored jacket.

Detectives with the Adult Sex Crimes Unit were contacted and are continuing their investigation.
