National Child Abuse Prevention Month

New Release 1304-010

Monday, April 8, 2013, 9:30 AM [RELEASE AT WILL]

Our Internet Crimes Against Children {ICAC} Unit wants to highlight some staggering statistics in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention month.

A report of Child Abuse is made every 10 seconds

More than five children die every day as a result of child abuse.  Roughly 80% of those children are under the age of 4!

Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across every ethnic and cultural line, within all religions and all levels of education.

Over 90% of the time, a parent, stepparent, relative or the parent’s boyfriend or girlfriend is responsible for the abuse.

About 30% of abused and neglected children will grow up to abuse their own children, continuing the horrible cycle of abuse.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Do you know someone who is being abused?  Take Action! Get Involved!

Put the Child First!
