High school poets to compete in City Slam
Friday, March 29, 2013

On April 12 at 6 p.m. at the City Auditorium, 18 students from local high schools will compete in the City's "Lyrical Lounge" poetry competition championship.

Lyrical Lounge is a program sponsored by the City’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, Recreation Services Division designed to let teens at local high schools express themselves through poetry and give them more opportunities to participate in activities beyond traditional interests.  This program is one of the ways the City works to develop relationships with local school districts to support academic and extracurricular activities through youth activities.

The competition is open to the public and admission is $3 per person.  The City Auditorium (Lon Chaney Theater) is located at 221 E. Kiowa Street downtown.
