Drake Task Force Moves Forward

After two meetings, the 11-member Drake Task Force has moved forward with the following items:

  • Issuing a Request for a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) seeking a qualified contractor to perform a study of the impacts to the Colorado Springs community of the decommissioning (15 years, sooner or longer than 15 years), removal and possibly repurposing of the Martin Drake Power Plant while also focusing on determining the impacts and energy replacement options.
  • Touring the Martin Drake Power Plant to gain more information regarding the plant and its current roll in energy generation.
  • Drafting the statement of work for the Request for Proposal (RFP) and reviewing examples of evaluation criteria.
  • Developing and launching a website to inform the community of the latest Task Force news, meeting dates, agendas, the RFP and SOQ process, and allowing for public comment through an online submission form. (www.draketaskforce.net)

The Task Force is scheduled to meet the following Fridays from 9 a.m.-noon in the Pikes Peak Conference Room, City Hall, located at 107 North Nevada Avenue. Meetings are open to the public:
