Home Invasion Shooting
Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 1:30 AM [RELEASE AT WILL]
On Monday, January 7, 2013 at approximately 9:52 PM the CSPD received the report of a home invasion with shots fired. Upon arrival, officers determined that three (3) male suspects had forced entry into a residence in the 2400 block of East St. Vrain St.
A male resident was present when the break in occurred and a struggle ensued between the victim and the suspects. The victim did obtain a firearm and shot two (2) of the suspects, both of whom are in their early twenties. Both of the injured suspects ran from the scene in an easterly direction for about one (1) block where they stopped due to their injuries. Medical personnel arrived and provided treatment to the individuals and both were transported to a local hospital.
One (1) of the suspects is considered to be in critical condition. The second male suspect is in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation does not provide any reason to believe that the victim knew these suspects. Fortunately, the victim did not receive any injuries as a result of the break in.
Violent Crimes Unit detectives responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
