Sexual Assault on a Client by a Psychotherapist

Monday, January 7, 2013, 3:00 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

In the summer of 2010, a young man was assigned to receive counseling as it related to his combat deployments.  During this time, a sexual relationship developed with his psychologist.

According to the victim, the sexual relationship began in August 2011 and continued until October or November 2011.

The victim shared that the psychologist told him on several occasions that he had to be careful and not tell people when they were out on “dates.”  The victim said he told his psychologist that he did not want to keep their relationship a secret and she replied that they would have to wait two years before they could have an open and legitimate relationship.  When the victim advised in late April or early May that he did not want to wait two years, the psychologist ended their relationship

Following an investigation, on December 31, 2012, Colorado Springs Investigators arrested licensed psychologist, Dr. Janice Husted for Sexual Assault on a Client by a Psychotherapist which is a Class 4 Felony.
