Mountain Shadows Park Renovation Public Master Plan Meetings

In the midst of growing momentum towards full restoration in Mountain Shadows following the Waldo Canyon Fire, the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department is working with Colorado Springs Togetherto renovate Mountain Shadows Park in 2013.

The first step in the public process will be a neighborhood workshop to receive citizen ideas and input.  Residents may choose to attend either one of the workshops offered (two identical meetings):

Wednesday, January 9

6:30 – 8 p.m.

Chipeta Elementary School

Saturday, January 12

9 – 10:30 a.m.

Chipeta Elementary School

The park will be improved with extensive input from the citizens living within the community and with the involvement of the Mountain Shadows Community Association (MSCA) and many of the neighborhood homeowners associations in the area. This project has been made possible thanks to Colorado Springs Together, several generous corporate sponsors and the involvement of other organizations and businesses across Colorado Springs.  Because the park is adjacent to Chipeta Elementary School, the Parks Department, School District 11 and project sponsors are working together so that the renovations integrate the school grounds and facilities where possible to provide a wonderful asset for the community.

A full timeline of the project, expected to be completed by September 2013, and more information can be viewed on   A park survey and a kid’s idea drawing sheet can also be downloaded from this webpage.
