Tuesday, October 09, 2012

Pikes Peak - America’s Mountain invites the community to the ribbon cutting and reception of the Pikes Peak Highway Gateway and Tollgate Facilities on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.  The new gateway and tollgate facilities consist of an expanded three-lane tollgate operation; office areas for staff; and a break room and storage area. Total square footage has been increased from 200 square feet to approximately 1,300 square feet.

The City of Colorado Springs has operated the Pikes Peak Highway in partnership with the United States Forest Service under a term special use permit since 1948. Each year the highway staff welcomes more than 250,000 visitors to one of the region’s most notable landmarks.  This new facility provides an impressive entrance for one of the region’s key tourist destinations.

Immediately following the ceremony will be a reception and opportunity to walk through the new facilities. Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain will offer a $2 discount per vehicle for the entire day for all guests.

Local government and community leaders, including Mayor Steve Bach, will participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Location:  5089 Pikes Peak Highway, Cascade, CO 80809
