Bridge Repairs - Traffic Impacts for Pikes Peak Avenue over Shooks Run and Uintah Street over Monument Creek
Monday, October 08, 2012

On Tuesday, October 9, beginning at 6 a.m., Pikes Peak Avenue from Colorado Avenue to Prospect Street, and Uintah Street from I-25 to Cascade Avenue will be reduced to a single lane in each direction for preventive maintenance to the bridge decks. The lane closures will shift as the projects continue with each lane closure lasting approximately 12 hours. Both projects should be completed by Thursday night.

The City is actively pursuing preventive maintenance to ensure the longest functional life for the bridge infrastructure. The scope of work consists of using a concrete sealer on the median and sidewalks, and a two-part epoxy aggregate overlay on the driving surface. Drivers should expect some delays and use alternate routes when possible.

For public safety and expediency of construction, the City of Colorado Springs asks motorists to pay close attention to posted speed limits and signs throughout the project area. All construction activities are weather and resource dependent.

This project is funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority.
