City Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department celebrates Worldwide Day of Play
Friday, October 05, 2012
On Saturday, October 6, Nickelodeon will host its 9thAnnual Worldwide Day of Play - an event that encourages millions of kids around the globe to "Get Up, Get Out and Go Play!"
Worldwide Day of Play is the centerpiece of The Big Help, Nickelodeon's long-term campaign to empower kids and families with tools and information to take action on issues they care about. On that day, Nickelodeon goes completely 'dark' all afternoon, suspending programming across its channels and websites. In all 50 states and in 13 countries, including U.S. military bases around the globe, kids and families celebrate Worldwide Day of Play.
Through our partnership with Worldwide Day of Play, the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department showcases our efforts for long-term, sustainable, and holistic approaches to fighting childhood obesity on all fronts. Karen Palus, Director of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, will read the Worldwide Day of Play proclamation at the Great Pumpkin Race on Saturday, October 6.
