Friday, September 21, 2012, 1:00 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

Wednesday,  at 11:25 am, plain clothes police officers were searching for a suspect considered to be Armed & Dangerous when they spotted him at an apartment complex on Byron Drive.  There was an active warrant at the time for his arrest.

At 11:38 am, officers notified dispatch that the suspect was in a vehicle which was “on the move.”   At 11:39, they notified dispatch that the vehicle had crashed.

The suspect appeared to have lost control of his vehicle as it jumped a curb, hit a parked vehicle – actually going over it and through a fence before coming to an abrupt stop at the La Cresta Estates on Murray Boulevard.

The suspect has been positively identified as 27 year old, Benjamin David Corson.  The Coroner has ruled Mr. Corson’s death a suicide from a self inflicted gunshot wound. CSPD’s investigation revealed he shot himself as he attempted to elude police.
