North Hancock Avenue Bridge Opening
Monday, June 11, 2012

The new North Hancock Avenue Bridge will be open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning on Monday, June 11, 2012.

Traffic will be detoured on the south side of the new bridge onto Nichols and Pennsylvania while paving operations are completed on Hancock Avenue north of 4th Street to the bridge.  Business accesses will remain open during this time.

The North Hancock Avenue Bridge, located north of Fillmore Street and south of Austin Bluffs Parkway, was originally constructed in 1960. Because of the age and condition of the original bridge, the City of Colorado Springs replaced the structure over the winter months using Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) funding. The total project cost, including design, was approximately $5M.
