Colorado Springs City Council calls for resignations of hospital board members
Colorado Springs City Council held a special session on Tuesday, May 1, at 4pm to discuss matters related to Memorial Health System. After meeting in executive session to receive legal advice, council reconvened in public session and unanimously approved two motions (with Council Members Herpin and Williams excused).
The first motion, made by Councilman Merv Bennett, asked for the voluntary resignation of the current Memorial Health System Board of Directors by 5pm, Wednesday May 2. Any member that does not voluntarily resign by that time will immediately be removed by Council.
The second motion, also made by Councilman Bennett, directed the City Attorney to review the executed term sheet and separation agreement with Dr. Larry McEvoy and provide legal opinion to Council by May 16. Council will consider further action following the legal review.
Council will appoint a new board for Memorial Health System at a special meeting at 9am, Friday, May 4, 2012 in City Hall Council Chambers.
