Mountain Metropolitan Transit Spring 2012 Service Changes

The Transit Services Division of the City of Colorado Springs, administrator of Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT), will implement its spring service changes effective April 2, 2012. In order to assure continued productive, efficient operations, MMT services are continually monitored and service changes are made 1 to 2 times per year where necessary. Ridership, service hours, quality of service, cost, community and customer input, and routing efficiencies are all considered.

Following is a summary of the upcoming spring 2012 service changes; more details are available online:

Route #31 – City of Fountain– This route will be eliminated due to a decision by the City of Fountain to no longer contract with Mountain Metropolitan Transit to operate its transit service.

Route #22 – Security/Widefield– This existing route will be broken into two routes.

Route #14 – Chestnut St. – Garden of the Gods Rd. – Make a minor direction-of-travel adjustment to this route in the area of Garden of the gods Rd. and Centennial Blvd.

FrontRange Express (FREX)– Minor afternoon time point adjustments.

Metro Rides– Metro Rides vanpool program fare adjustments.

Five public hearings were held to inform the public of the proposed spring 2012 service changes and to solicit comments from the public.
