Mountain Metropolitan Transit Offers Transportation Training for Seniors

The City of Colorado Springs Transit Services Division, administrator of Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT), is offering a free public transportation training class for seniors. Older adults who can no longer drive or simply prefer not to, can benefit greatly by using public transportation to help facilitate independence and mobility. MMT’s senior bus fare is only 85 cents making it a very affordable choice.

Spend an informative day with transit staff to learn about transportation options and how to use the local transit bus service. The class is free and open to the public. Participants will learn trip planning tips, advantages and disadvantages of various transit options, take an actual ride on a city bus, and more.

           Important: Participants must be able to walk or use their wheelchair to travel approximately two blocks to a bus stop.

                                    Participants need to bring a brown bag lunch and water

Maximum class size is 25.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and Metro Mobility ADA paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool, and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-busprogram.
