CSPD continues to search for ROBBERY SUSPECT

Monday, May 21, 2012 5:00 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

This past weekend, two robberies were committed that investigators now believe are related to a third robbery.

On May 19th, officers responded to the Clarion Hotel located at 314 W. Bijou Street.  In this case, the suspect entered the hotel lobby and demanded cash.  He proceeded to douse the clerk with lighter fluid.

Although officers immediately flooded the area, in addition to conducting a K9 search, no suspect was found. The robber was described as a black male in his 40's, 5'11 to 6'1", 170 to 180 pounds, sporting a scruffy beard with bumps on his face and neatly dressed.

The following day, May 20th, officers responded to the Coaltrain Wine & Liquor store located at 330 W. Uintah Street. The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the business, sprayed the employees with an unknown liquid and demanded cash.  In this case, the suspect left without getting any money. There were no injuries. A search of the area was conducted however the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20's, 5'10-6', with an average to heavy build. He was wearing khaki pants, a gray hoodie, blue jacket and sunglasses.

Investigators now believe the two weekend robberies along I-25 were related to another case: The Family Dollar at 22 N. Spruce Street that was robbed on May 12 by a black male who matches the description of the man who robbed the Clarion Hotel and Coal Train Liquors.
