Q: How far is the fire hydrant from my house?
A: Fire hydrants are generally located at roughly 500 foot intervals in residential neighborhoods and can typically be found at intersections. If you are unable to locate the fire hydrant closest to your home, please contact the Division of the Fire Marshal at 719-385-5978 for further assistance.

A: To schedule a business community outreash program, a fire drill or a kindergarten fire safety program, contact Community Services at 719-385-5950.

Q: I would like to ride along with the firefighters. How do I do that?
A: Interested individuals must be 18 years of age or older. Individuals must go to the station they wish to ride with to fill out the necessary paperwork, attach a letter from yourself, a supervisor, or a counselor stating the reason for the ride and what they expect to learn from the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Individuals are allowed 2 rides per year for 4 hours each with no overnight stays.

Q: Should I take my child by a fire station if they are showing interest in fire play?
A: The answer is no! The child often looks at a visit to the fire station as a reward. We conduct a juvenile firesetter class that is held once a month. If you are interested or would like to register, call Community Services at 719-385-7376.

A: No. The Colorado Springs Fire Department has not provided this service for several years. Please contact the company who provides you with extinguishers or contact an extinguisher company listed in the yellow pages of the phone book for available training programs.
